Here are the Pictures...

Well, I am having picture uploading problems... hence the lack of pictures in my last few blogs. I was hoping it would get well over the weekend, but I haven't had any luck... so, here's what I could get to upload...

Here's Sam "driving" the boat - in his new life jacket!!! It also doubled as a head and neck restraint!

This is how Sam and Mimi road in the boat the whole time... we tubed, wake boarded and everything - Sam was so good!!!
Here's our little family...
Uncle Bo was there too!!!
And he was concerned about Sam getting sunburn on his bald head...
Even the dogs go on the boat - it can't crank without them in it too!!!
Sam was finishing prunes this weekend... great coloring to show what a mess he gets into while he's eating!

Sam went swimming in his own pool since I wouldn't let him in the lake! He loves to splash around!
After Sam went swimming, we used Daddy's work bench as a changing table - you can see BJ cleaning his gun in the background. You can't see what Bo's doing, but he was working on stuff for his truck... great multi-purpose table!!!!
I'm so sad - I had so many more good pictures... I'll keep working on it!

Chatty Sammy

Well, Sam is, yet again, taking after his daddy!!!

He won't stop talking (well, babbling)... Yesterday, after church, we fed him - which he ate carrots, prunes, squash and a spoon-full of peas - and thought he might be in need of a nap since he had not slept all day!!!! Oh, No!!!! He played and "chatted" all afternoon!!!! No nap for Sam (or mom and dad)!!!!! We went back to church, and Sam fell asleep in the car. OK - so he slept for 30 minutes and was wide open again. He didn't sleep at all while we were there!!! THEN, when we got home, he was still wide-open!!!! BJ kept asking what I had put in his milk!!!??? I have no idea!!!! The little guy didn't go to bed until after 10, and I think he would have stayed up if we hadn't made him lay down in his crib!!!!!! YIKES!!!! What are we in for now?????

Back to the feeding stuff...

After lots of research, I am feeding Sam more big boy food! He has been introduced to all the 1st foods, so, Saturday, he started with his three meals! He had cereal and bananas for breakfast, apples, sweet taters, peas and milk for lunch, and prunes, bananas and squash for dinner - topped off with a bottle with some cereal. All went well until dinner, when he decided he was tired of this spoon feeding business!!! Bottles are much easier!!!!

OK - lesson learned... not all at once!!!! Now, I have decided to ease him into three full meals!!!! Now, lunch is our big boy meal, and I'll do breakfast next and then dinner later!!!! My new motto: Baby steps!!!!!!! Oops!!!! Live and learn, huh????

And he is so funny when you feed him peas or green beans!!!! He really hates them, but he MUST have some green in his diet!!!! So, I give him a spoon or two each day. When you give them to him, he screws up his face and makes this god-aweful gagging noise - with his tongue out and everything!!!!! It's so funny!!!!!!

Eat your veggies, right!!!!????

When in Rome...

Yesterday, we went to Rome to visit my grandmother (my dad's mom). She is in an assisted living home. We took her out to lunch, which is a special treat, because she has diabetes and has to eat "special" food when she eats in the dining area. That being said, she had to stop by the front desk for her insuline shot before we left. Well, that was also the entrance to the dining room, and all the other residents were lining up at the door waiting to get in. SO, as a special treat, we paraded Sam through there to "help" Marney get her shot.

Thirty minutes later (I think they opened the doors and all interest was lost in the "mad rush" of wheelchairs and walkers to get into the dining room), we are out and on our way to Red Lobster. It was so cute - these ladies would just shout - "I want to see him!" so we would have to turn Sam around for them to see... one lady jumped up out of her wheelchair and literally ran up to us. No one else seemed amazed at this, so I didn't ask if we had just witnessed a miraculous recovery and if Sam had some special healing powers!!!!! =) Needless to say, Marney was a superstar and was very proud to show off Sam!!!!!! And Sam decided to show that he now knows how to blow bubbles with his spit!!!! We just call it liquid sugar!!!!

All joking aside, though, it is so sad to see these people like this! I really dislike nursing homes and those types of places - it just reminds me that we are all fated to get old... and I am doing that rather quickly it seems!!!!! And I feel so helpless to help these people - I just feel sorry for them! I can't help it!!!

OK - no looking back - only forward!!!!

Speaking of looking forward...

In my "next life" (I know about heaven and that there really isn't a "next life" but just indulge me here), I want to come back as a man...

Think about it...

Men: Get up, shower (but ONLY if necessary), run a brush through hair (but only if you have a special meeting that day), get dressed (and a lot of times they can even for-go the shirt), brush teeth (please), and head out the door.

Women: Get up, fix man's lunch, shower (not an option if you want manageable hair), put on make-up, dry hair, curl hair, spray hair, try on 10 different outfits to find one that fits and says, "I'm cute, fun, serious and mom" while still stylish, clean up kitchen from man fixing coffee or breakfast, HOPE baby's not crying yet, fix bottles, change baby, feed baby... I could go on...

Men: off to work. Meetings, office pools, work a little, play pranks on co-workers, eat lunch... head home - where dinner's ready, baby's sleeping so you can eat, laundry that was dirty on floor is magically clean and folded - may be even put away, hold baby, play, put to sleep, watch T.V.

Women: Rush to feed baby, fix dinner, play with the dog, play with the baby, blog about stupid stuff (!?), take out the trash, and be presentable when said man gets home! Clean up supper dishes, straighten house, relax for a minute, and off to bed to get up and do it all again!!!!!

Men: mom cleaned, cooked and did laundry. If, for some reason, they ever lived alone, they MAY have become self-sufficient enough to do SOME of this on their own... unless mom comes and cleans, they bring laundry to her, and she sends meals home with them. Then, once married, they, funny enough, forget any semblance of their capabilities of doing any of these things and they are STILL magically done for them...

Women: helped mom clean, cook and do laundry while mom was teaching her how to do these things. Very self-sufficient if ever living alone, and turns into their mom and takes care of the husband and baby's her little boy just the same!!!!!

(I truly believe this is our fate because women are not patient enough to let men get around to doing these things - it takes dirtiness a little longer to bother a man!!!)

*** These do not necessarily reflect me and BJ - he really is great and helpful, and I'm sure he works more than he plays!!!!!!!! =) And I was a spoiled child who didn't learn how to do laundry until college, clean until college, or how to cook till I was married... and that's still up for debate!!!!

Well, whether or not I can come back as a man, I must say that I am still spoiled and it could be A WHOLE LOT WORSE!!!!!!! (My motto these days!!!!) And I must say that I am loving my life more and more these days!!!!!!! It just gets better and better!!!!!

Old Enough to Know Better

We had a great weekend at the lake... we actually got the boat out for the first time this summer!!! We tubed, we wake boarded, rode in the boat, rode the Mule (Mama and Daddy's diesel golf-cart-like thing - and Sam's favorite), watched T.V., ate A LOT, and had great family time in general.

All of that sounds innocent enough, but, as Daddy was slinging us behind the boat, and Mama's telling him to go faster and turn harder, I wondered to myself: "At what point are we no longer kids? And at what point am I old enough to know better than to do this to myself?"

As I sit here with a sore body, bruised legs and skinned-up elbows... I realize that I am just still too young to care --- yet!!!!! It's fun, and I don't want to give it up!!!!!

Having my own child HAS indeed tamed me a little, because, as I was wakeboarding, I kept thinking, "I have to be able to take care of Sam tomorrow!" Used to, I would just go and go until I couldn't hold onto the rope any longer... this weekend, I just went a few times so that I would still be able to lift my arms today!!!!!! I guess I HAVE grown up - just a little!!!!!

Bo and BJ, however, are a different story. They were behind the boat on the tube (guess it would have been silly NOT to be behind the boat =), and decided to play "King of the Tube." They were fighting and pushing each other off - it was hysterical to watch... and, yes, they are still kids (they obviously DON'T know better =). They are paying for it today, though! They both have to go to work and actually function - and I get to hear the moaning!!!!!!! That's ok, I told BJ so!!!!!!!! =)

My conclusion from this weekend is that - no, I'm not an "adult" yet, and I'm not in a hurry to get there AT ALL!!!!! I am just fine being a kid - just stinks that I have to do grown-up stuff sometimes!!!!!!

PS - I have a lot of pictures (go figure), but they are on Mama's camera, and she's bringing them to me tomorrow... so, I will add onto this blog when I get them!!!!! Because Sam was absolutely adorable!!!! He rode in the boat with his new life jacket - it was the funniest thing!!!! I think he took all of ONE nap between Saturday to Monday!!!! He didn't want to miss anything!!!! He was so good, though - as usual!!! He rolled over (back-to-front) for the first time on Sunday... now, I really think he could have done it sooner, he just doesn't enjoy tummy-time too much, so he never did. This time, I believe it was an accident, because he rolled immediately back to his back!!!! He has done it plenty of times since too, he just goes immediately back everytime!!!! He is a man!!!!!!

BJ

Well, I am very proud of my husband... he is in charge of this huge building that is under construction in Buckhead. It will be the tallest building in Buckhead when it is complete - by hundreds of feet. I believe he said it was a $150 million project - pretty cool, and his company has left all of this on his shoulders. He can do it, and is doing it - he is constantly being praised by his bosses and his client. And his wife!!!!! It is an office building with condos on top and a new Buckhead Life restaurant at the bottom. The penthouse condo will be selling for $10 million or more - the cheapest condo unit will sell for over $1 million!!!!!!

He has a lot on him, but he is doing so well with the pressure - as well as studying for his licensing exams and being a wonderful daddy to Sam and husband to me. He doesn't forget to praise me or tell me that I'm pretty. He loves his evenings with Sam, feeds him, changes him and puts him to bed. Then, he gets up EARLY to get to work EARLY so that he doesn't have to work late and can come home to be with us!

How did I get so lucky??? He is the best husband ever!!!!

Here are some pictures of the model they have made of his building. He has informed me that it won't be so blue in real life, but the rest of it is right on... even down to the landscaping!!!!

Black and White

Sam has become an active little bugger these days... well, not that he wasn't before, but he just changes and grows more and more everyday! Yesterday, we went swimming... well, I didn't, but he did - in the bath tub!!! He just love laying there and kicking the water - it doesn't even bother him when the water splashes in his face!!!!

And I bought some material to sew a blanket for him to play on. He rolls off of his play mat in no time (and we all remember how he folds himself up in it so well!!!), so I thought I would just "whip" him up a big blanket!!!! Yeah, right!!!!! It took a couple of days (in between baby - and my not-so-professional seamstressing), but I finished it. It looks aweful! The ends look absolutely terrible where I attempted to sew them; however, they ARE in fact sewn and not unraveling, so it serves its purpose!!!!!!! Sam likes it - as does Stormie... here they are on the make-shift blanket while I was sewing - they were sleeping...

Aren't they cute???? And they are not posed - that's how Sam fell asleep, and Stormie came and got that close to him to sleep too... ahhhh... she really does like him - sometimes!!!

We took up a role of black and white film with BJ's good camera... we got some really good pictures!!!!
I'm with Kimberly in feeling that I don't photograph well, however, I will take this one - I really like how it turned out!!!!!!It's hard to tell, but BJ and Sam are wearing matching outfits - cut-off camo shorts and a white Polo shirt - they were SO CUTE!!!!!

Sam's Weekend

Sam's weekend and Mimi and Pop Pop's was fun and very eventful. They took 160 pictures and three videos!!!!!! On the way home Friday night, they stopped at Wal-Mart and let Sam pick out a new toy!!!! And so the fun began...

Pop Pop fed Sam his cereal - and it sounds like they were both in a pretty big mess! Sam, Bumbo (the chair) and Pop Pop had to get into the shower...

The cereal may have been everywhere, but they had a good time getting it there!
Sam finally found his feet - he apparently got interested in them over the weekend!

Sam took a shower, then got in the tub to play. He loved splashing around in the shallow water. This is one of very few shots of him on his tummy. He rolled over to his back and kicked and kicked...

Here is Sam and Mimi on the mule. Sam loves to ride and look at stuff (so does Rocky =) This, too, was a great way to quiet him down in the rare moments that he cries!!!!!

Here's Sam with Pop Pop driving...

Then Sam decided to take it for a spin on his own! Such a fast learner!!! (Told you he was a genious!!)

Here's Sam eating green beans... can you tell he's not a fan??? He actually ended up eating them two or three times... he would spit them out, Mama would catch them with the spoon and feed them to him again!!!!

It's playtime again...

This was Sam's 5 month photo shoot... Mama got a new camera, so she volunteered to do it for me! Thanks Mama - they turned out SO GOOD!!!!!

This is my absolute favorite...

Well, that's it - Sam's weekend away! It was good to be on my schedule, but I sure did miss him - three nights was a long time!!!!!!!! Stormie enjoyed it the most, though!!!!!!
